Questions
Are my pictures sent anywhere?
No. Reading your pictures and combining them both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose a picture.
How large is the new picture?
"Original size" makes the largest picture in which no picture is made larger than it is (the smallest picture decides). You can also choose a long side from 1,080 to 4,096 pixels. Either way, the picture has at most 16.77 million pixels (what iPhones can draw); when it would be larger, it is made smaller, and the tool says so.
What is the difference between "Whole, not cut" and "Fill the cell"?
"Whole, not cut" shows every picture whole. Side by side, the pictures get the same height; one above another, the same width; in a grid, each picture fits in its cell with the background around it. "Fill the cell" fills each cell and cuts what sticks out, the same amount on both sides.
Can the background be transparent?
Yes. Choose PNG as the format first, then choose "Transparent (PNG only)" as the background. JPEG has no transparency, so it cannot be chosen with JPEG.
Does the location or other hidden information stay?
No. The new picture has no location, date or device information. It has no orientation information either: each picture is turned upright before it is placed.
What is the saved file called?
It is called "collage.jpg" or "collage.png", because the original file names often include the date a photo was taken.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. When the picture would be larger than the device can handle, the tool makes it as large as that device can, and says so. Inside apps such as LINE, saving may not work. If so, open the page again in Safari or Chrome.
Limits
- You can combine 2 to 20 pictures at once. When they do not fit in a 2 × 2 or 3 × 3 grid, choose another arrangement.
- Moving pictures (GIF, moving WebP or PNG) are used with their first frame only.
- Photos with a wide range of colors (such as photos from recent phones) are drawn again in the usual range (sRGB), so very bright colors can become a little softer.
- One file can be up to 50 MB, and a picture up to 50 megapixels. HEIC (the photo format of iPhones) works only in browsers that can open it (mainly Safari).
- We cannot protect against things in your own environment, such as browser extensions.
