How to use
Press "Choose files" and pick your photos. You can choose up to 20 at a time.
A list of hidden information appears. Check whether the location or the date taken shows "Found".
Press "Remove and save" to save the photos without their hidden information. Two or more photos are saved together in one ZIP file.
Questions
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No. Reading the photos and removing the hidden information both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose a photo.
Does the picture quality drop?
No. The picture data is kept as it is, and only the hidden information is taken out. The orientation and the color information are kept so that the photo looks the same.
What are the saved files called?
They get numbered names such as "photo-1.jpg", because the original file names often include the date the photo was taken.
Why does the location show "None"?
Some phones remove the location by themselves when they hand a photo to the browser. In that case you see "None".
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. It works in Safari on iPhone and in Chrome on Android. Inside apps such as LINE, saving may not work. If so, open the page again in Safari or Chrome.
Limits
- JPEG, PNG and WebP photos can be cleaned. High-efficiency iPhone photos (HEIC) and other formats cannot be cleaned yet.
- The tool checks the file as your browser received it, which can differ from the original photo.
- The scenery or signs in a photo can still show where it was taken.
- We cannot protect against things in your own environment, such as browser extensions.
