Mosaic and blur
Draw boxes over the parts you do not want to show, and hide them with a mosaic, a blur or a solid color in a new picture. The original pixels of those parts are not in the saved picture. Your picture is processed only on this device.

How to use
Press "Choose a file" and pick one picture.
Drag over the picture to draw boxes around what you want to hide. You can also choose how to hide them (mosaic, blur or solid color).
Press "Hide the areas". Check in the preview that they are hidden, then press "Save" to save the new picture.
Questions
Are my pictures sent anywhere?
No. Reading your pictures and making the new ones both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose a picture.
Can the hidden parts be brought back later?
They cannot be restored as they were: every pixel of those parts is written again, and nothing is laid over the original. But small text and numbers under a mosaic or blur can sometimes be guessed back. To hide text or numbers, use a solid color.
Which is better: mosaic, blur or solid color?
For text and numbers (names, numbers, addresses), use a solid color: small text under a mosaic or blur can sometimes be read back. For faces and the like, a mosaic or a blur works (the mosaic starts at "Large").
Can I use a keyboard?
Yes. Add a box with "Add an area", move it with the arrow keys, change its size with Shift and the arrow keys, and remove it with the Delete key.
Does the location or other hidden information stay?
No. The new pictures have no location, date or device information. They have no orientation information either: the picture itself is saved upright.
What is the saved file called?
It gets a plain name such as "mosaic.jpg", because the original file name often includes the date the photo was taken.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. You can draw the boxes with your finger. Phone browsers may not be able to make very large pictures (such as photos from recent phones) at their full size. Then the tool makes the picture as large as that device can handle, and shows the old and the new size. The areas are still hidden completely on the smaller picture. Inside apps such as LINE, saving may not work. If so, open the page again in Safari or Chrome.
Limits
- Small text and numbers under a mosaic or blur can sometimes be read back. Hide text and numbers with a solid color. Other parts can still show where a photo was taken or who is in it, such as reflections (in windows or glasses), the background or other text. Check the whole picture before you save it.
- Each time, one picture can be used.
- Moving pictures (GIF, moving WebP or PNG) become a still picture of their first frame.
- One file can be up to 50 MB, and a picture up to 50 megapixels. HEIC (the photo format of iPhones) works only in browsers that can open it (mainly Safari).
- We cannot protect against things in your own environment, such as browser extensions.
