Questions
Are my images sent anywhere?
No. Reading the images and making the GIF both happen on your device. Nothing is sent out after you choose images.
How many images can I use?
From 2 to 50. Each image can be up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels.
Can each image have its own time?
Yes. Enter a time from 0.02 to 60 seconds in the field of each image in the list. "Use for all images" puts the same time into all of them.
What size and shape does the GIF get?
Choose 240, 320, 480 or 640 pixels for the longer side (never larger than the largest image). The shape is that of the first image, or square, landscape or portrait. Images of another shape are shown whole with colored margins, or cropped to fill.
What happens to the quality?
A GIF can use only 256 colors, so each image gets its own 256 colors, and smooth colors are shown with fine patterns of dots (dithering).
Does the location or other hidden information stay?
No. The GIF has only the pictures. The location, the date they were taken, the device and other information of the photos are not included.
Can I use iPhone photos (HEIC)?
Yes, in browsers that can open HEIC (mainly Safari). Elsewhere, change the photos to JPEG or PNG first.
What is the saved file called?
"animation.gif", because the original file names often include the date the photos were taken.
